ThirtyChair - 2/3 (eng.)

After the pleasure that had given me the Inktober challenge, I decided to repeat the idea , and launched my own challenge: making a drawing of chair a day again , during 30 days. The theme was deliberately barren, i wanted to see if I could make fun out of it.

After the first review of my new design challenge, I was skeptical about the value of this approach : I had trouble finding my footing in the project, and I could not think of a way to make it more dynamic . For the second record , I am much more satisfied , I really found a way to be happy with my drawings. Slowly but steady, i'm taking back the way of creation (lately I've mostly made copies from models , I was not able to ' create ' things because I was like ' stuck ') .

I asked for advice everywhere. The best advice that was given to me came from some forums on which I am registered. Some users have suggested designing chairs made of unusual materials or styles .

let's start with the "Gothic" Chair : You have obviously recognized the architectural style of the cathedrals.

The five following drawings show the same concept : you take the chair and you assume that it is composed of foreign elements. A chair made of dry roots (12) or flowers (14) , made from the bumper of a locomotive (13) and finally another made of bones (15) and a last one made of books (16) . Some of these chairs are inspired by the environment in which I was when I was drawing : the locomotive (I was on a train) , and the books (in a library)!

For the seventeenth drawing , I chose the theme of the rainbow. As I found it well done, I added some colors.

The eighteenth is a bit special. I was inspired by the video game "Zelda : The Wind Waker", and i made a mountain-shaped chair.

For the two last ones, same concept : the usually made of smooth wood surface is replaced by something else: bubbles in one , polygons in the other.

See you in two weeks for the last article concerning this project :)
