I gave myself, as a constraint, to draw only chairs, and nothing else . Obviously , the subject itself , although it seems clear, is still quite extensive. So if the purpose was to draw only this object , nothing stated how I was supposed to draw it. And that is perhaps why I made quite a disappointing assessment out of the first third, and the had the feeling of not knowing which way to go .
With the first three tests, I sticked to the principle of drawing from a picture found on the internet. Only the first one had something added: the black scarf.
In the fourth test , I added a speech bubble. At one point I considered doing only comics with talking chairs. And I do not know, I was not so fond of the idea, if I do that , I feel like I'll be tempted to mainly make small scenes featuring jokes with talking chairs. Which can be very funny, no doubt , but the goal is rather to work on the technique , drawing. And if i do comics, I think I'll get too far away from this goal.
I spent More time on the detail work with this one. I used a common chair as a model and I turned it into the iron throne.
The following elements are trying , each in their own way , humor and derision. With more or less success. The one that amused me the most did not seem to be the object of interest on the sites where I published : the chair transformed into schematic showing time sharing percentage between the different activities that we do on a work chair (7)... Here, as I explained above, focusing on the joke side makes me miss the quality of the drawing. Difficult to reconcile both of them :)
For the last item of this first third, I decided to return to the initial idea : drawing from model , but this time I took a very detailed model.
For the the next drawings , I'll ask to the people following me on social networks: between all the trends mentioned in this article, which one should I keep? Drawing from model? Comic- strip featuring chairs ? Other?!
